Lee Jackson and Simon Alcock teamed up to secure a convincing victory in the Burford Pro-Am.

North Oxford pro Jackson and Frilford Heath amateur Alcock triumphed by five strokes with the lowest winning score since 2005.

Gross rounds of 68 and 71 gave them a three-under-par total for the foursomes strokeplay event and led to a nett score of 135.

Brookdale pro Grant Hamerton and amateur Neil Self (Stand) were second on 140, with James Whately (East Midlands Golf Academy) and Richard Silk (Maywood) third on 141.

Among the other professionals who took part were European Senior Tour players Martin Poxon and Lawrence Farmer.

ANNIE Gowing flew the flag for Frilford Heath by reaching the quarter-finals of the English Senior Championship at Littlestone, Kent.

The five-handicapper lost 3&1 to Roz Adams (Addington Court) in the last eight despite taking the lead with birdies on the first two holes.

Gowing had progressed through qualifying and the first round where she defeated Jo Ashmore, from Barnham Broom, 2&1.

Frilford and Oxford Ladies member Judy McCairns, who plays off a handicap of eight, also made the knockout stages, but lost her first-round clash to Barbara Laird (Sandiway) by one hole.

THE Oxfordshire’s Craig Hinton finished 19th in the West of England Amateur Strokeplay Championship at Royal North Devon, while Eddie Pepperell (Drayton Park) failed to make the cut.

PAUL Needle bagged a hole-in-one at the par three 15th hole during Chipping Norton’s Saturday Roll-up.

HADDEN Hill raised £2,030 during a tournament for armed forces charity Help for Heroes.
