OXFORD City and Radley em-erged victorious in the boys and girls’ competitions as the Fit-2-Run Oxfordshire Track & Field League began at Horspath Road.

City saw off Radley by four points in the boys’ event, while Radley posted a nine-point win over Banbury in the girls’ competition.

For the boys, the under 13s posted victories in the A and B string discus through Ben Daniels and Christopher Wood.

City claimed seven victories and six second places in the under 15 boys’ category, along with 12 personal bests.

Pride of place went to James O’Callaghan and Max Tavinor, who posted A and B string wins in the 400m.

The under 17 men dominated their rivals with sprinters Gift McLaren, Tom Downs and Mark Warland winning A and B string 100m and 200m between them.

McLaren shaved a tenth of a second off both his 100 and 200m personal bests, while Warland knocked four-tenths of a second off his 100m best.

Overall boys’ result: 1 Oxford City 37pts, 2 Radley 33, 3 Abingdon 23, 4= Banbury H, Witney RR 21, 6 Bicester 19, 7 White Horse H 13, 8 Goring & Wallingford 7.

Radley posted nine wins in the under 13 girls category.

The most notable display came from Megan Humphreys, who clocked 4.01.0 to land the 1200m.
