Mystery surrounds the exact location of the Oxfordshire Cup, which Chinnor won on Sunday.
Chinnor captain Matt Hutchings had to be given a substitute trophy after his side’s 68-0 victory over Witney – because the real cup was not returned.
Oxford Harlequins, winners for the previous four seasons, had the cup at their annual dinner on Friday, but it never appeared at Iffley Road.
Quins chairman Kevin Johnson said: “When I left on Friday it was in the clubhouse, waiting to be taken down.”
Quins captain Simon Chadbone has been tasked with finding the missing trophy, but there was no further news at the time of going to press.
Chinnor fly half James Cathcart was also left short-changed as he could not receive the Ron Grimshaw Memorial Trophy after being named man-of-the-match.
Cathcart again received a substitute, but last year’s winner, Quins’ wing Ollie Campbell, insists he is on the case.
