Wheatley Park staged a terrific fightback to beat Northampton Academy 4-2 on penalties in the ESFA Under 16 Schools’ Cup after their fifth-round tie finished 2-2 after extra time.

Trailing 2-0 at half-time, Wheatley Park hit back after the break with goals from Bradley Owand and Greg Hackett.

Extra time failed to produce a winner, and Wheatley Park were deadlier in the spot-kick shoot-out to set up a last-16 tie at home to the winners of Leicestershire duo Bosworth and John Cleveland.

Jordi Mulvaney’s double gave Cherwell (Oxford) a 2-1 win at Willenhall School & Sports College (Walsall) in the ESFA Under 13 Schools’ Cup fifth round.

They are now away to Kingsdown (Swindon) in the last 16.

Cooper (Bicester) saw their run come to an end with a 4-3 defeat at Longsands College (Huntingdon).

Cherwell are also through to the ESFA Under 15 Schools’ Cup sixth round following a 2-1 win at Archway (Stroud).

Abdi Farah grabbed Cherwell’s winner two minutes from time after Adriel George had netted before the break.

Cherwell are now at home to Northampton School for Boys.

St Gregory the Great (Oxford) went out of the ESFA Under 18 Schools’ Trophy with a 4-1 reverse at Aylesbury Grammar School in the fifth round.

Wallingord bowed out of the ESFA Under 12 Danone Nations Schools’ Cup with a 2-1 home defeat by Trevelyan Middle School (Slough) in the fourth round.

St Birinus (Didcot) had the misfortune of seeing their tie against Queen’s (Watford) awarded to their opponents by computer after the two teams failed to play by the deadline date.

Cherwell were swept aside in the ESFA Under 15 Girls’ Schools’ Cup fourth round with a 7-1 defeat at Maiden Erlegh (Reading) .
