Tiddington thrashed Banbury 2nd by nine wickets to soar to the top of MP Sports Cherwell League Division 2 for the first time this season.

Sam Hollingshead was the Tiddington hero, taking 5-36 as the visitors slumped to 114 all out. Their final score would have been even worse had Sam Cheshire not made 50.

Will Cooper then made 71 not out to take the home side to 115-1 and top spot.

At the other end of the table Sandford St Martin finally claimed their first win of the season, at the expense of fellow strugglers Banbury Twenty.

Seamer Siphe Mzayidume took 4-42 and spinner Simon Smith 4-41 to restrict Twenty to 154-9. Hassan Ahmed marshalled the tail well to finish unbeaten on 48.

Wickets fell at regular intervals to Steve Hart (4-35) and Ifran Mahmood (3-46) after tea, but Chas Taylor (36no) saw Sandford home by two wickets in the 45th over.

Twenty failed to provide a scorer so will lose five points.

Abingdon Vale are up to fourth after Mike Cook’s 5-61 saw them to victory at Aston Rowant 2nd.

Robin Thompson (73) was the mainstay of Vale’s 186 all out, in which Tim Foster took 4-59 and Dominic Whatman 3-37.

The dependable Paul Plumridge made 36 for Rowant, but received precious little support as his winless side fell away for 122.

Morning leaders Long Marston were skittled for only 90 at home to Great Brickhill.

Lee Morgan took 3-28 in a miserly 21-over spell and Adam Boad claimed 3-9 as only Simon Robinson (34) prospered with the bat.

Brickhill then eased to 91-3 and overtook Marston in the table.

Challow & Childrey missed the chance to go second when they were held to a draw at Wolverton Town.

Tom King took 5-67 to put Challow in a strong position, but Aky Hussain's 80 not out propelled Town from a decent score to a highly competitive 229-7.

Will Clarke (47), Ryan Gordan (44) and Vishane Perera (39) pursued the victory target vigorously, but Hakim Khan’s 5-62 left them clinging on at 210-9.
