Oxford Stadium celebrates its biggest event of the year with the £8,000 Betfair Pall Mall Stakes over 450 metres tonight, writes John Gaisford.
Hoping to trump his rivals in the big race will be Chris Allsopp’s Ballymac Ace.
The Monmore-based black dog missed his customary fast exit in the semi-finals and was in the crowding at the first bend where Pams Tomjo got first run to come out on top.
However, Ace, came from fifth to get within a length and a quarter of the Hove runner and is taken to reverse the result tonight.
Tomjo is a very fast trapper, so Ace has to on the ball.
Any trouble late on and the Richard Yeates-trained Aherlow Shaw could upset the odds and, much as I would like to see a local runner come out on top, I fear the two principals are the ones to beat.
