Oxfordshire have a strong representation in Great Britain’s team for the World Championships at Bled, Slovenia, from August 28 to September 4.

Frances Houghton, from Wheatley who rows for Leander BC, competes in the women’s single scull at the event which doubles as the Olympic and Paralympic qualifying regatta.

The 30-year-old, a world champion in the quadruple scull last year, misses out on a place in that crew as she continues her comeback from injury.

Oxford’s Andrea Dennis (Imperial College BC) is in the quadruple scull.

Katie Solesbury, from Oxford who rows for Leander, is in the women’s eight.

And Oxford’s Lily van den Broecke (Headington School BC) coxes the legs, trunk and arms mixed four in the adaptive section.

Joining Solesbury in the women’s eight are Alison Knowles, who lives at Wallingford and rows for Thames BC, Wallingford RC’s Lindsey Maguire and Oxford Brookes University BC cox Caroline O’Connor.

Oxford University Women BC’s Kathryn Twyman teams up with Dennis in the quadruple scull.

Oxford Brookes University BC’s Peter Chambers is in the men’s lightweight pair with Kieren Emery (Leander).

And Chambers’ brother, Richard, is in the lightweight four.

Zac Purchase, who lives in Wallingford, joins Mark Hunter (Leander BC) in the lightweight double scull.

Isis BC’s Constantine Louloudis is a reserve.
