HATTI Dean is already looking ahead to 2012 after being ruled out of the World Championships with injury.

The former Radley athlete, who hails from Oxfordshire, had hoped to recover from a hip injury in time to run the 3,000m steeplechase in Daegu, South Korea.

But in the same week that Oxford City’s Hannah England was confirmed in the British team, Dean said she won’t race again this summer.

“I have been ruled out with injury,” said Dean, who was fourth in last year’s European Championships.

“It has taken quite a long time to recover. I am not race fit, but I am on the road to getting back my general fitness.

“I won’t race again this season, but will get back to the cross country in the winter.

“I think it is really important to have a good winter, especially with London 2012 next year.

“I just want to make sure I am in the best shape for next summer.”

Meanwhile, England, who will compete in the 1,500m, heads out to Ulsan, South Korea for Britain’s pre-Championships holding camp next week before the main event, which starts on August 27.

England said: “I’m really looking forward to the Worlds and my goal is definitely to reach the final.

“There is a day off between each round, so the schedule is not too harsh and I will race each round as if it is a final.”

England’s mentor, Dame Kelly Holmes, said: “When I started ‘On Camp with Kelly’ one of my aims was to help athletes make the transition from juniors to being successful seniors. I am delighted to see Hannah becoming a regular in the Aviva GB&NI Team.”
