Oxford City had to settle for a share of the spoils – for the second time in a week – as they were held to a 2-2 draw by their fellow Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division high-fliers AFC Totton at Court Place Farm on Saturday.

On Tuesday, City conceded an injury-time equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Chesham United, and on Saturday the same thing happened against Totton.

Leading 2-1 with seconds left, thanks to goals from Wayne Blossom and Lee Steele, City were looking good for victory, only for Ryan Hill to grab a point for the visitors.

Early on, City’s fit-again keeper Jason Mooney dealt with a Michael Charles effort before the hosts took the lead.

A long throw-in from Andy Ballard found its way into a congested goalmouth to Wayne Blossom who fired home.

Minutes later, Steele shot straight at keeper Grant Porter, after he had been set up by midfielder Darren Pond.

However, City were rocked when the visitors equalised. Mooney intercepted a cross from Stefan Brown, but the ball ran loose to Nathaniel Sherborne who fired home.

On the stroke of half-time, City got a second. A Marvin Martin free-kick came to Steele, who finished in style.

After the break, Mooney made a number of saves as Totton stepped up the pressure.

It looked as though City would hold on.

But three minutes into injury-time Hill smashed in the equaliser from a corner to end City’s victory hopes.

Oxford City: Mooney, Blossom, Learoyd, Pond, Willmott, Lyon, (Barcelos 49), Ballard, Malone, Benjamin (Fisher 63), Steele, Martin. Subs not used Fleet, Heapy, McLoughlin.
