Tony Hallatt, a member of the Oxon branch of the GB Pike Anglers Club, showed how to do it with this pristine specimen of 24.10.0 from an unnamed Oxfordshire lake.

It came after he had walked around the whole lake spinning, without success. He switched to a floatfished herring and promptly caught this cracker, plus others of 23.4.0 and 19.4.0.
