Division 4 side House Club A recorded a shock 4-1 win at Riley B, of Division 1, in the Gentworks Oxford & District League’s Buildbase Cup second round.

The concession of 24 points per frame proved beyond the hosts in the handicap competition, with only Peter Franklin preventing a whitewash as he defeated Tony Nichols 77-68.

Tony Smith sewed up victory for House Club, taking a tense fifth frame 68-61 on the black against Lewis Moss.

Syd Patterson held his nerve in a sudden death shoot-out as Division 4 side Eynsham D sprang a surprise 4-3 home win over Kennington.

With the match standing at 3-3, names were drawn out of the hat for a decider, and Patterson, whose Eynsham side received an eight-point per frame start, came out on top 55-41 against Keith Hollis.

Division 4 team Oxford Bowls Club A took advantage of a 16-point per frame start to crush Division 2 opponents Oracle A 4-0.

Terry Gripe led the way for the Bowls Club with a brace of wins over Mike Kent.

Division 3 team Cowley Conservative Club A brushed aside House Club B, of Division 2, 4-1.

After the first two frames were shared, Mark Bayliss and Chick Wheatley won the next three to seal the win for Cowley, who received an eight points start.
