Liam Davis says that Oxford United’s continued defensive qualities will only mean something if the team get wins on the board.

The U’s have conceded just two goals in their last seven games – but have only three wins, three draws and a defeat to show for their efforts.

“As a defender, you want clean sheets first and foremost, but we need the wins – they are the most important thing,” Davis explained.

“Not getting the wins does put a dampener on it.

“It was disappointing in the way we lost the game on Saturday.

“We dominated parts of it, they shut up shop and caught us on the counter-attack.

“But we can hopefully use Saturday to get us back on track.

“We are expecting a tough game, and maybe tougher than some other games we have had in different ways.

“If they have ten men behind the ball, we have to make sure that we can break them down and get the right result.”
