FRANK Jones has warned his Chinnor teammates against complacency in tomorrow’s National 3 South West derby at Oxford Harlequins (2.30).

Chinnor scrum half Jones, who is a former Quins player, has been a key cog of a side that have won all 17 league matches this season.

Although Quins sit in the relegation zone, Jones is expecting a far tougher battle than the clash at Kingsey Road, which Chinnor won 66-3.

“We are confident, but this weekend is going to be a tough challenge,” said Jones.

“We are not taking anything for granted. Anyone can win in a local derby, but fingers crossed, we can get another win.”

Jones didn’t expect to be Chinnor’s No 9 when he joined last summer, but has made the position his own.

He said: “I am doing well enough, but there are some other good players competing with me. I just want to perform on Saturday.

“We need to make sure that we are clincial and treat it as any other game.”

Chinnor have scored 37 tries in their last four matches.

“We have been playing pretty well in the last few weeks, but there is still room for improvement,” said Jones.

“Our second team doing so well means there is strength in numbers and training sessions are pretty intense.”

Wing Richard Williams and Pip Seymour, who is fit after an ankle knock, return to the squad as does back-row forward Ben Ramsdale.

Quins give a debut to Spanish wing Pablo Pepiol, who was withdrawn before last week’s victory at Bridgwater & Albion as his registration had not cleared in time.

Sam Steventon starts at tight-head prop instead of Jonathan Hall, who tore a hamstring against Bridgwater, while flanker Alex Powell replaces Ramen Farahani.

Alasdair Maspero moves to scrum half as Jack Cosins is unavailable. Frank Mayfield returns at full back, with Andy Noyce dropping out.

Quins manager Steve Chadbone said: “We are expecting a fairly good-sized crowd.

“We have a completely different side to that which lost to Chinnor in October. It is a lot stronger now.

“Our midfield is looking really good. Jonny Tevita is a natural 12, which makes a big difference and he and(fly half) Matt Smith are linking well.

Henley Hawks have a week off, but prop Alec Hepburn is on the bench for England in tonight’s Under 20 Six Nations clash against Scotland.

Wing Lewis Collins and fly half Henry Lamb return to the Witney squad for their South West 1 East trip to Coney Hill.

Lamb replaces Pierre Dub-ost, who has returned to his native France, while wing Dan Purkiss is the only other absentee from last week’s 22-17 defeat to leaders Maidenhead.
