Team manager Steve Chadbone says Oxford Harlequins have nothing to lose as they bid to upset Chinnor in their National 3 South West derby at North Hinksey Lane tomorrow (2.30).

With Chinnor having routed their Oxfordshire rivals 66-3 at Kingsey Lane in October and Quins now in the relegation zone, the visitors are red-hot favourites to stretch their amazing 18-match winning streak.

But Chadbone said that Quins were ready for the challenge. “We have nothing to lose and we are going to give it a good go,” he said. “We are vastly improved from the last time we played them.

“We are a different side now – we probably have seven changes from that game and we are looking a lot more settled in our back line.

“We hope to give a good account of ourselves to take into the following weeks, and give us a springboard into the next few games.

“If we can do that we will be OK. We have still got to play the two asides above us and they have also got to play the big sides.”

Despite the two clubs’ varying fortunes, Chinnor head coach Jason Bowers said he wasn’t expecting a repeat scoreline from earlier in the campaign.

“It will be a tough one,” he said. “I think it was a bit of a shock result when we beat them at home earlier in the season.

“If you look at all the other games we have played they have been tightly contested, and they will be pretty focused with the game at home, and they need to start winning.”

Tom Jelley, back from his overseas trip, takes the absent Andy Noyce’s place on the wing for Quins, while flanker Alex Powell steps up from the bench to replace Ramen Faharani.

Back row forward Harry Jackman returns to Chinnor’s squad after missing last week’s 35-3 home win over Exmouth due to illness, with scrum half Ricky Hopwood and hooker Alan Cawston also added.
