Long Wittenham’s Alexis Canter defeated some high-ranked players on his way to winning the Nottingham Tennis Europe tournament.
The 13-year-old, who trains at Abingdon’s White Horse Leisure & Tennis Centre, was seeded No 6 for the under 14 event.
And after beating top seed Jay Clarke 6-3, 6-2 in the quarter-finals, Canter went on to defeat No 3 seed Robert Leck in a final-set tie-break to take the crown with a 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (7-4) victory.
Canter is this week in action in the Cukurova Cup, in Adana, Turkey, where he is through to the quarter-finals after a 6-0, 6-0 first-round win.
