HENLEY Hawks ran in eight tries to end their season on a high with a 52-0 home demolition of Hertford.

It was also their first clean sheet of the 30-match campaign.

Centre Danny Wells touched down the first try on five minutes, converted by fly half James Comben, who kicked six in total.

Almost immediately, Wells dropped the ball having crossed the line, but Matt Payne was driven over and fellow flanker Rupert Crossland ran in from 60 metres.

Another forward surge led to a try for tight-head prop Jim Hadfield, while Hertford loose-head Kanwaijit Basra, centre James Storey and Henley full back Tom Allen were sin-binned.

After the break, centre Ali James sped in and a penalty try made it 38-0.

On 66 minutes, Allen mesmerised the defence for try No 7, while Henley replacement prop Hugo Milford-Scott was sin-binned.

Comben completed the rout late on and landed his sixth conversion.
