PAUL Fernandez has been selected to represent England in the at Anglo Celtic Plate 100K Home Countries International.

The Abingdon Ambler earned his spot for the event in Cardiff on July 22 after some impressive ultra marathon runs in 2012.

The Ethiopian, who became the first sub-30 minute runner on the Oxford course the previous week, clocked 29mins 16secs to triumph in Bristol.

  • DAVID Kuester won a silver medal in the Midlands (British) Masters Throwers Group Weight (Throws) Pentathlon at the Moorways Stadium in Derby.

The Bicester and Oxford City athlete finished second in the vet 65 category with 3,076 points.

Kuester was second in the hammer (31.22m), discus (30.38), javelin (31.57) and heavy weight (12.93) and third in the shot put (8.98)

  • ALCHESTER Running Club have rescheduled their Charndon 5K race for Tuesday, July 10.

The event, which was postponed due to a waterlogged car park earlier this month, will start at 7.30pm.
