OXFORD United have been awarded a Football League Family Excellence Award for the 2011/12 season.

Based on an independent assessment by ‘mystery shoppers’, it recognises clubs who provide what is deemed to be an outstanding experience for young fans and families.

U’s chairman Kelvin Thomas said: “As always we will continue to work and act on the recommendations and suggestions that have been put forward.

“But it is very pleasing to know that what we are doing is being noticed and acknowledged.”

In all a record 50 clubs out of the 72 in the Football League received the award.
