DARRELL Bellinger celebrated his Mota-Vation Series title in style by breaking the course record in the final round at Oxford.

The 27-year-old Oxford City athlete had already been crowned men’s champion after round four, but was not content with just his maiden title.

Bellinger completed the 4.03-mile course in 20mins 1sec to smash the previous record of 20.11 set by Steve Naylor in 2011.

That left Bellinger with three wins and one second place for his best four races and must give him hope of beating Naylor, from Woodstock, the next time they compete.

Woodstock Harriers’ James Bolton sealed the men’s runner-up spot after finishing second.

Bolton clocked 20.39, holding off rival Kieran White (Hercules Wimbledon), who ran 20.48 for third on the night and third overall.

Woodstock’s Sophie Carter had already won the ladies’ title by claiming victories in the first four races and did not compete at Oxford.

Oxford City completed a clean sweep of men’s titles by also winning the vet 40, 50, 60 and team competitions.

Julian Richardson secured his first vet 40 crown after finishing eighth on the night in 21.36.

Richard Grant, who clocked 24.25 for 40th, sealed the vet 50 title, while Stewart Thorp topped the vet 60 rankings after finishing 49th in 24.50.

Alec Vessey edged out Abingdon Amblers clubmate Owen Stepney to be crowned under 19 men’s champion.

Abingdon Ambler Lizzie Purbick, who came 77th on the night in 26.12, finished second behind Carter in the senior ladies’ standings.

Witney Road Runner Frankie Snare was third lady after recording 25.47 for 65th.

Headington Road Runners’ Diane Moore was the vet 35 ladies’ champion after winning her category again in the final round – recording 24.49 for 48th.

Anita James (Headington) won the vet 45 ladies’ title, with Eynsham Road Runner Kate Williamson the vet 55 champion.

Radley’s Gemma Bridge was the first lady home on the night in 24.05, but had not completed the four races required to top the under 19 standings.

Headington’s A and B sides were the first two teams in the ladies’ standings.
