BRADLEY Bubb’s late penalty maintained Oxford City’s unbeaten start in Vanarama National League South after a 2-2 draw at home to Basingstoke last night.
Liam Enver-Marum should have put the visitors ahead inside the first minute, but hit the outside of a post.
However, Basingstoke took the lead on 20 minutes when Enver-Marum crossed for Lloyd Macklin to head home.
City keeper Lawrie Walker made a point-blank save to deny Macklin a second, and soon after his side were level, Alejandro-Adrian Santiago scoring in the 32nd minute.
The visitors went back in front in the 68th minute when a long-range Louie Soares free-kick squeezed past Walker at his near post.
But City secured a point on 72 minutes when Kynan Isaac was fouled in the area and Bubb scored from the spot.
Oxford City: Walker, Coulson, Lapoujade, Del Alamo, Arzamendi, Santiago, Fleet (Lawrence 86), Pond, Bubb, Lafuente (Benjamin 72), Isaac. Subs not used: Henderson, Pifarre, Stonehouse.
Attendance: 255.
