Ady Fuller revealed he turned down the post of director of football at Banbury United after being told he was no longer manager at the club.

Fuller, who was in his second season in charge at Spencer Stadium, met Jed McCrory, one of the Evo-Stik Southern League club’s new ownership group on Monday night.

“I was offered the job of director of football, but I knew that was not fo me,” said Fuller.

“I’m in my 30s and want to be in the dressing room, rather than the boardroom.

Later Fuller learned that the new owners had brought in former Barnet player Edwin Stein and ex-Evesham boss Paul West as their new management team.

“I’ve got no animosity to the club and wish them well,” said Fuller, who spent ten years as a player at Banbury before taking over as manager.

“I just wish that they had handled the situation a little differently.

“Getting new investment is just what the club needs to move forward, and the new owners have the right to choose who they want.

“I just wish it was me.”

Stein and Miles took over before the Premier Division game at home to Bideford on Tuesday night.

It ended in a 1-1 draw, which still leaves Banbury seeking their first victory.

Their attention now turns to the FA Cup first qualifying round tie at Hungerford Town tomorrow.
