AFC Jericho caused a huge surprise in the quarter-finals, sending AFC Hinksey crashing out after a superb defensive display, writes TIM SIRET.

The Division 2 outfit shocked the Premier Division title contenders 3-1.

Hosts Jericho came right at Hinksey from the kick off and had a goal chalked off for offside after just 35 seconds.

They deservedly opened the scoring when Marley Joseph shot home.

Joseph then doubled the lead, firing in from 35 yards, and by the time Paul Gillard’s cross-shot found the back of the net, the top-flight side were on the rack.

However, Hinksey came out all guns blazing, but found the defensive unit of Alex Silva, Lance New, Mark Simmonds and Kamen Matthews in fine form.

With goalkeeper Mauro Pereira at the top of his game, all Hinksey had to show for their efforts was a Marlon James goal.

Jericho will face Kings Arms Wheatley in the semi-finals after they beat Cross Keys Wallingford 3-1.

Cholsey suffered their second cup defeat in as many weeks, going down 3-2 after extra-time to Mansfield Road.

Cholsey scored through Andy Allum (2), but an own goal, Max Burton and Alex White put Mansfield into the last four, where they face Oxford Yellows.

TEN-MAN Rover Cowley beat Dorchester 3-1 after extra time in the Hedley Toms/Michael Brown Trophy.

Despite Ben Armstrong seeing red, Carl Bloomfield (2) and Craig Bloomfield fired Rover through, with David Murphy replying.
