CRITCHLEYS UTV LEAGUE

CHRIS Stringer bagged a double hat-trick as Sutton Wanderers dented King & Queen Wheatley’s Division 2 title hopes in an 11-goal thriller, writes TIM SIRET.

The midfielder scored three times in the opening 12 minutes and another two by the half hour mark to give the strugglers a 5-0 lead.

Wheatley incredibly got back on level terms with ten minutes remaining thanks to doubles from Jordan Reid and Simon Evans, plus a strike from Ben Jones.

But Stringer slid in to convert Luke French’s 87th-minute cross.

Relegated Standlake Garage signed off their Division 1 campaign by claiming a first win of the season – thrashing Sutton Revolution 8-1 at home.

Tim Senior netted a hat-trick, Dave Cunningham added a brace and there were also goals for Mike Duerden, Phil Thomas and Mev Gundem. Luke Moss replied for Revolution.

Zubry Oxford missed the chance to go top in Division 3A as they were held 1-1 at lowly Abba Athletic.

Shane Probbitts scored for the hosts, with Marcin Walendowski hitting the reply, so Railway Wheatley will be champions with a win against Freeland Yeoman.

The Division 3B title race is also going to the wire following AFC Crowmarsh’s 5-5 draw with The Tree.

A four-timer from Tom Eatwell and a goal from Jamie Dutton gave the Grove side a 5-2 lead heading into the final ten minutes.

But Crowmarsh, who had earlier scored through Liam Strudwick and Craig Passey, hit back via Joe Sutton, Adam Phillips and John Ramsay.

This ended The Tree’s title challenge, which had been hit by a 7-4 defeat against Black Swan in midweek.

Crowmarsh will be champions with a victory over Tree on Sunday.
