AN injury-time goal from player-manager Andy Ballard gave Didcot Town a battling 3-3 draw at Yate on Saturday.

The visitors trailed three times in the Division 1 South & West thriller, but fought back for a superb point.

Yate took the lead after 13 minutes when Sasha Tong fired home the rebound after his first shot had been saved by Leigh Bedwell.

Didcot equalised when Mark Janes capitalised on a defensive error, but in first-half injury time the hosts regained the lead through George King.

The Railwaymen equalised for the second time on the hour when a great cross by Lewis Noble saw Luke Carnell power a header past Yate keeper Josh Dempsey.

The visitors appeared to be heading for defeat when Josh Morgan-Williams put Yate ahead for the third time in the 89th minute, but Ballard curled an effort past Dempsey in injury time.

Goals from Zac McEachran and Felipe Barcelos earned Banbury United a 2-1 victory at home to Shortwood United to consolidate second place.

The Puritans took the lead after ten minutes when McEachran netted from Felipe Barcelos’s pass.

Leading scorer Ricky Johnson missed a great chance to make 2-0 just before half-time.

They added their second in the 69th minute with a super goal from Barcelos.

Shortwood pulled a goal back through Will Morford, but Banbury finished on top.

It was a day to forget for North Leigh, who crashed 4-0 at home to Mangotsfield United.

The Millers, who tried a new pairing of Callum McNish and George Seacole up front and a new duo of Lewis White and Ben Brown in defence, trailed to a goal from Ben Bament at the break.

Ricky Scott made it 2-0 with a screaming 25-yard shot just after the break and Scott Brice headed home two minutes later.

North Leigh’s woes were compounded on 78 minutes when Brice added a fourth.

The visitors actually took the lead through Sam Barder in the 57th minute, but Bridgwater snatched a point through Harry Horton seven minutes from time.
