Despite managing to score only two birdies in 36 holes, Eddie Pepperell improbably made the halfway cut in the Spanish Open at Valderrama.
When the Frilford Heath golfer completed his second round of 74 today for a nine-over-par total of 151, he was some 30 places and four shots over the cut mark.
But on a tricky day of incredibly high-scoring, Pepperell had moved into the top 65 by the end of play.
Pepperell, playing his first event for two months, birdied the opening hole but had only one more in the round, which included five bogeys.
Leading the tournament by two shots is Spaniard Pablo Larrazabal on three-under-par 139.
