Studley Wood professional Dusan Gavrilovic was rueing the poor weather after failing by a whisker to qualify for the British Seniors Open at Turnberry.
The 51-year-old missed out playing in the tournament with such world stars  such as eventual champion Fred Couples and Tom Watson, by a single shot.
“I was absolutely sodden through at the end of my qualifying round,” explained Gavrilovic after he shot a five-over-par 77 on the famous Scottish links.
“The damage was done on the front nine in the worst of the weather,” he said.
“I actually played the back  nine in one under par, but that was not quite enough.
“I was really disappointed, because I have been playing really well of late, after receiving some tips recently from the great Gary Player.
“I just need a lucky break,” added Gav-rilovic, who is still seeking finance, so that he can make a real go of qualifying for next season’s  European Seniors tour.”
Gavrilovic put the Turnberry disappointment behind, himby entering a Pro-Am tournament at The Oxfordshire and promptly winning.
He shot a five-under-par 67  to win by a shot from West Berkshire’s Paul Simpson and Joe Templer (Reading).
