OXFORD Sports clinched the Thames Valley Winter League Premier Division title in dramatic fashion after finishing level on points with North Oxford.
Sports needed to beat David Lloyd 8-0 to win the league outright, but dropped a set in a 7-1 victory.
With the clubs level on 80 points, Sports’ unbeaten record, which has seen them win all 11 matches compared to North’s ten, ensured they became champions.
In Division 1 of the Ladies’ AEGON County League, Oxford City continued their winter form with a commanding 12-0 victory against Woodstock.
The closest match saw Beth Simmons defeat Taysie Gujral 6-2, 3-6, 10-3.
Recently promoted Bicester beat Oxford Sports 12-0 in Men’s Division 1, while North Oxford overcame Portcullis 10-2.

OXFORD’S Lucy Brown was beaten in the second round of the 6th Hellenic Zeus Circuit Hersonissos in Greece.
Brown, who advanced through qualifying to make the main draw, lost 6-1, 6-2 to Spanish eighth seed Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar.
