HENRY Henman kept up the family tradition with victory in the Henman’s Freeth tournament at Woodstock.

The eight-year-old, nephew of former British No 1 Tim, received the trophy from grandfather Tony, whose firm sponsor the event, now in its 21st year.

Henman jnr saved three match points to beat North Oxford clubmate Amalia Widdowson 16-14 in the mixed under eight final.

Woodstock’s Saffy Gujral beat unseeded 11-year-old Chloe Elliott 4-2, 4-1, in the final of under 14 girls competition.

There was further Woodstock success in the men’s event, where Bobby Gosling beat Wantage’s Charlie Lane 6-2, 7-6.

The girls’ team, made up of Jasmine Conway, Aislin Rees, Michaela Shakespeare and Susanna Wright face Bucks, Essex, Middlesex and Berkshire at Oxford Sports.

At North Oxford, the boys’ side of Nathan Patel, Will Robinson, Max Struthers take on Channel Islands, Essex, Middlesex and Berkshire.

  • JUDY Murray, the mother of British No 1 Andy, invited a group of under 18 girls from Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Bucks to a camp in High Wycombe to encourage teenage girls to keep playing and take up coaching.
