A PROTEST rally over looming health cuts at Banbury's Horton Hospital will be held in People's Park on Sunday, June 18, at 3pm.

The meeting is being organised by the Keep the Horton General action group. Chairman George Parish said: "It is important that people turn out to make the meeting a massive show of support for the Horton.

"We must let health bosses on Oxford know that the whole town is against cutbacks and closures at Banbury's hospital.

"Parents in particular should make sure there is a hospital in town for their children, and their children's children."

Speakers will include Banbury MP Tony Baldry, South Northants MP Tim Boswell, former Horton consultant Dr Peter Fisher, town mayor John Donaldson, and Unison's Mark Ladbrook.

Posters proclaiming support for the Horton have been produced by Mr Parish for protesters to carry, and a supply of them are available free from the Banbury Cake offices in High Street.

A public consultation meeting organised by the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals Trust, to discuss the new proposals, will be held in Banbury town hall on Thursday, June 22, at 6.30pm.
