Two 19-year-olds have been arrested after an 18-year-old man was assaulted and a gun was allegedly fired in Banbury.

The teenager said he was walking along School View about 3.20pm on Friday, October 29, when he was approached by two men who began to racially abuse him.

He claimed to have been assaulted by the two men and his mobile phone was stolen by one of the attackers.

The victim called his family to help him reclaim the phone after he saw the men go into a house in the road.

A disturbance then began, during which one of the two men allegedly produced a knife.

The victim said the second man produced a baseball bat and a firearm which he claimed was discharged into the air.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, and another 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm and possession of a firearm.

Both have been bailed until December 13.
