Murder Charged After Man Found Dying In Street

A Stanmore man has been charged with murder following the death of a Burnt Oak man on Wednesday last week.

Gordon Bees, 46, who formerly lived in Brockhurst Close, Stanmore, told Hendon magistrates that he was now of no fixed abode.

Looking calm and subdued, he nodded in acknowledgement when magistrates told him that he was accused of killing Paul Thomas of Milling Road.

Mr Thomas was found in Station Road, Edgware, on Tuesday night last week, with severe head injuries. He was resuscitated by a passer-by and taken to Barnet Hospital, before being transferred to the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead where he died.

Members of Mr Thomas's family left the public gallery in tears, shouting abuse at the accused, after they heard the charge.

Bees was remanded in custody for a week pending further police inquiries.
